The challenge
Premium pet food in India faces a uniquely complex shelf: grey-market resellers undercut MAP, vet-clinic chains hold pricing power in their own micro-markets, quick-commerce platforms (Blinkit / Zepto / Instamart) launched city-by-city and pincode-by-pincode at wildly different price points, festival cycles pull discounts in ways global tools don't model, and India's Legal Metrology rules add MRP compliance on top of brand MAP. The internal team was stitching Google Sheets, screenshots and a part-time intern to keep up — losing days each month to data cleaning and missing violations entirely.
How Zobrx helped
- 1
Built a daily-cadence scraping pipeline covering Amazon.in, Flipkart, Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, HUFT, Supertails, Just Dogs and Zigly — the 9 channels that mattered for premium pet nutrition in India.
- 2
Established a canonical master-product catalog (200+ SKUs) keyed by EAN with MAP, MRP and pack-size — single source of truth across every channel.
- 3
Implemented AI-assisted SKU mapping: EAN exact match → title trigram → LLM re-rank, with a human-approval queue for ambiguous cases.
- 4
Added pincode-level monitoring for Blinkit / Zepto / Instamart across 50+ Indian pincodes spanning tier-1, tier-2 and tier-3 cities — surfaced regional pricing variance the team had never seen before.
- 5
Built MAP compliance workflow with grace-window detection, evidence-pack PDFs (signed, with seller IDs, screenshots and timestamps) ready for legal counsel and marketplace takedown notices.
- 6
Cross-wired the OOS signal into the brand's Meta retargeting so campaigns automatically pause when a SKU is out-of-stock on Blinkit Bangalore, and resume when stock returns.
The results
Royal Canin India now operates with daily 360° visibility into its competitive shelf — pricing, stock, sellers, buy-box state, MAP compliance and pincode variance — without any internal data-engineering overhead. The team surfaces an average of 47 MAP violations per month for legal action, has cut violation-detection time from weeks to hours, and has captured regional pricing patterns on quick-commerce that now inform their own pricing strategy. The pipeline that runs Royal Canin's tracker was generalized, hardened and productized into Zobrx's Marketplace Intelligence module — meaning every Zobrx customer today inherits a stack that was first proven in production for a Mars Petcare brand in India.
"Royal Canin's challenge — 9 channels, pincode pricing chaos, grey-market MAP violators, and a legal team that needed evidence packs not screenshots — pushed us to build something none of the global tools handled. That work is now the marketplace-intel module that every Zobrx customer benefits from."
